After Raju,another J&K officer inducted into NIA

After R V Raju,Kathua SSP S P Pani has been inducted into the National Investigation Agency,while three more IPS officers from J&K cadre are also being considered.

After R V Raju,Kathua SSP S P Pani has been inducted into the country’s premier investigating agency – the National Investigation Agency,while three more IPS officers from Jammu and Kashmir cadre are being considered for induction into the NIA.

Informing this,official sources said that the three more officers,whose names are being considered,are Rauf Lone,Farooq Khan and S D Singh Jamwal.

While Rauf Lone is presently Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG),Armed,Kashmir,Farooq Khan is presently Deputy Inspector General of Police,CID,and S D Singh Jamwal is presently Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP),Special Security Group (SSG) – Chief Ministers security.

R V Raju,who was serving as Commissioner,Jammu and Kashmir State Vigilance Organization,was the first IPS officer from Jammu and Kashmir cadre to be picked up for the National Investigation Agency after the Central Government decided to go for the NIA,and Raju was made to head the NIA.

Sources informed that as R V Raju was given a free hand to pick up officers for the NIA,keeping in view their investigating capabilities and efficiency,he has been picking up experienced IPS officers from several states across the country to build his NIA team.

After R V Raju was made NIA chief,S P Pani is the second IPS officer from Jammu and Kashmir to be inducted into the NIA,sources informed adding that he is shortly expected to join the NIA and an official letter for the same has received by Jammu and Kashmir Government.

S P Pani,who is presently Senior Superintendent of Police,Kathua,has earlier served as SSP,Kulgam in the Kashmir Valley and carried out a number of anti-militancy operations in the valley.

Sources informed that DIG Farooq Khan,who is being considered for induction into the NIA,has enough experience of anti-militancy operations in Jammu and Kashmir.

Khan was the police officer who set up the first Special Task Force (STF) in Jammu and Kashmir,which is also stated as Special Operation Group (SOG) for planning and conducting anti-insurgency operations in the state.

The first STF had been set up by him way back in 1994,sources informed,adding that Khan has excellent investigation skills. He has also served as DIG in various ranges including Rajouri-Poonch,Doda Ramban and Jammu-Kathua,before being shifted as DIG,CID headquarters,sources stated.

DIG Rauf Lone has served as DIG in State Vigilance Organization,and was a colleague of R V Raju,when Raju was in the SVO.

Besides,SSP S D Singh Jamwal has also been a colleague of R V Raju during his posting in the SVO sources informed adding that S D Singh Jamwal has also been SSP,Poonch and Jammu,carrying out many anti-militancy operations,besides having an skilled hand in investigations.
