After Sena outcry, rental housing plan out of bounds for migrants

  • The MMRDA in partnership with private developers is planning to construct about 1.61 lakh rental homes in Mumbai. “We have received a total of 41 proposals from private developers. Eight have been issued letters of intent and of this four are in advanced stage of planning,” said MMRDA commissioner Ratnakar Gaikwad. These include the construction of 43,000 flats at Virar by HDIL, 6,000 units at Karjat by Matheran Realty, 30,000 units at Ambivli near Kalyan by Nirmal group and 10,000 units at Juichandra near Vasai by Dhanashree developers.
