Investigations have revealed that LeT and IM terror outfits came together yet again for carrying out blasts in Pune. Investigators say LeT operative Fayyaz Kagzi, hailing from Beed district, and currently believed to be in a West Asian country, coordinated with IM founders Riyaz and Iqbal Bhatkal for the J M Road blasts.
Kagzi is a key suspect in the German Bakery blast on February 13, 2010, along with the Bhatkal brothers. According to Maharashtra ATS, Kagzi and Syed Zabiuddin alias Abu Jundal, also from Beed, trained Himayat Baig in Colombo for carrying out terror activities in Maharashtra. Baig, too, is from Beed.
As per Delhi police, Sayyed Feroze along with Imran Khan of Nanded and Asad Khan of Aurangabad, who is believed to be the "recruiter, motivator and ideologue" of IM module, had gone to Saudi Arabia several time and met Kagzi to plan terror strikes in India.
Investigators are also probing the role of IM operatives Mohsin Choudhary and Yasin Bhatkal in the J M Road blasts. Yasin is the alleged bomb maker of IM, who also reportedly planted the bomb at German Bakery. Asad first came to know about Kagzi in August 2009. He contacted Kagzi through telephone and email. Kagzi then indoctrinated Imran into IM. The duo along with Feroz then held several meetings with Kagzi in Saudi Arabia. Asad reportedly took training in computer networking in Pune between 2002 and 2004.
The Bhatkals wanted to avenge the murder of IM operative Qateel Siddique in Yerwada jail by gangsters Sharad Mohol and Alok Bhalerao. In January, Kagzi introduced Asad to the Bhatkal brothers, who initially wanted to bomb Yerwada jail or Pune court, but changed plans due to high security at these places.
Later, the Bhatkals asked the suspects to kill the family members of Mohol and Bhalerao. But the suspects were unable to identify their relatives and this plan was also dropped.
