After the chill, city sees rise in minimum temperatures

After experiencing a chill in the early weeks of November, there has been a gradual rise in minimum temperature, MET officials said. On Wednesday, the MET department recorded a maximum of 30.8°C, while the minimum temperature was at 15.7°C.

"Over the last few days, the city has been seeing a rise in minimum temperature with moisture incursion caused due to the low pressure formed in the Arabian Sea. This has brought in clouds resulting in a rise in temperature, which is likely to continue for the next two days as well,'' MET department officials said.

There has been a rise in minimum temperatures at all stations in the state. "There has been a rise by two to three degrees,'' the MET officials said from the chart issued on Wednesday. However, they are soon to add when the low pressure subsides and makes way for the northerlies, it is bound to see more cold winds and bring down the minimum temperature. In the last week, the city temperatures had dipped to 7.9°C this season, the lowest recorded for the winter this year which was 6.5 °C below normal.

The early part of November saw Pune's temperature fluctuating with the maximum temperature deviating from the normal by around 0.5°C, while there were huge fluctuations with some parts seeing a rise while at other times there recorded a dip.

The normal temperatures for November in the city ranges between a maximum of 30.4 °C to a minimum of 15.8 °C.

Last week also saw Pune and other parts of the state experience cold wave. Most parts of Marathwada and Vidarbha saw night temperatures dropping significantly below normal.
