Fresh on the back of the team’s Twenty20 World Cup triumph, Pakistan captain Younus Khan has now set his eyes on achieving success in other formats of the game as well.

In an interview with the Geo TV, Younus said while he was thrilled at the Twenty20 World Cup win in England, he had other cricket ambitions as well.

“I have a burning ambition to beat Australia and South Africa in Test series. I am happy we won the T20 World Cup and brought happiness for our nation but we need to look ahead,” he said.

Younus felt Twenty20 was a lot about chance and gamble but he thought his team had the potential to win at least one more major event in the coming days. “The Champions Trophy and the 2011 World Cup are two big tournaments and I am looking at them. I think the team can win one of them definitely,” he said.

The senior batsman also warned the authorities against allowing too much T20 cricket. “I can understand there is great demand for Twenty20 cricket but authorities must see it is not overdone and there must be a control on Twenty20 leagues and tournaments,” he said.

Younus also made it clear that he had no intentions of taking back his retirement decision from Twenty20 cricket. “I feel we have number of players who can lead the team in Twenty20 cricket. The idea behind my retiring is also to allow the board to appoint a new captain for Twenty20 cricket who can also be groomed as my successor.”
