After WC win, Pak players seek 'revised' IPL contracts

    One of the stars of IPL-1, Tanveer was signed for just $100,000.

    Younis has also announced his retirement from twenty20 cricket after Pakistan's World Cup win. Indications are that Pakistani players including Kamran Akmal, Sohail Tanvir might get a chance to play for their franchise in the Champions League planned this year while Shahid Afridi is also being targeted by Australian state side, New South Wales for Twenty20 cricket.

    Asked about the return of the players from the Indian Cricket League to the national team, Younis said it was a good development as this would strengthen the team. "But I would like to see these players who are now leaving the ICL why they joined this league in the first place."

    Younis was also critical of statements from Imran Nazir and Rana Naved, who have resigned from the ICL asking for surety they would be selected in the national team. "How can any player be given surety they will play for Pakistan. Razzaq has returned to the team and performed well so he is playing."

India played well in the first edition, but they are the ones that got lucky the first time in the final. This time pakistan won comprehensively against the two top and unbeaten sides back to back, and one of the sides even acknowledged that pak played better, and it was no luck. I want to pity people like anil who like to judge people from where they are from rather than the talent, as the same pakistani team who didn't play in the IPL won the cup, while the poor indian team got kicked out in the second phase. Goes to show that IPL is a kid's league and international cricket is a whole different format. It doesn't matter if the pak players play in the IPL or not, it won't affect their competitiveness at all, as they clearly showed in the recent world t20. Pakistan Zindabad!!!
    IPL is bullshitBy: taha | 28-Jun-2009 Reply | Forward This message is to Anil. The IPL franchise owners are a bunch of amateurs who don't know how to bid and what price to bid on the players. You can tell by the first auction. Guys like Glenn McGrath, Ponting, Umar Gul, Sohail Tanvir, got auctioned for less money, than people like David Hussey, VVS Laxman, Dravid, and of course Tendulkar, and Symonds. Many of the so called high price takers didn't perform as well as they were expected including indian players. So its useless to say that pakistani players are not worth what they are, as two of the pakistani players I mentioned performed really well, in Sohail Tanvir and Umar Gul. It goes to show the biased nature and favouritism from the owners, rather than selecting a really good side. Many of your indian players were hyped up in the first version but didn't perform, like yuvraj, laxman, dravid, harbajan got banned. Again i will give the same advice that I did to satish, try and look in your own backyard before criticizing others
