The opposition Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) on Sunday elected Chandra Mohan Patowary as its President and approved the unification process of all regional political parties in order to form a joint front against the ruling Congress. In its Central Executive Committee meeting which ended on Saturday night, the AGP approved the recommendation of the eleven-member committee formed to hold talks with the regional parties for unification. With this, the party has moved a step ahead to put up a united front against the Congress, party spokesman Apurba Bhattacharya said.
