  • A day after Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi announced that the Congress-led government would set up a women’s university in the state under the name of Indira Gandhi, the Opposition Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has asked him to review the decision and name it after an Assamese woman.

“Why should every road, institution, stadium and government scheme be named after members of the same family? Several women have made tremendous contribution towards society and even sacrificed their lives. Why can't the proposed women’s university be named after one of them?” asked Atul Bora, spokesman of the party.
