The All-India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) was conducted today at all five centres in Chandigarh where it was cancelled on May 1. In addition to these five centres, another centre was made at Satluj Public School,Sector 4,Panchkula,where 50 students took the examination.
The exam was conducted amid tight security and supervision by CBSE. The attendance of a total of around 3,000 candidates at the five examination centres Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS) 8,10,16,21 and 19 was above 80 per cent.
As a precautionary measure,a security vehicle along with two observers was deputed at every centre by the CBSE during the entire exam from 9:30 am from 12:30 pm. While one was principal of a school, the other was CBSE office staff. Normally, there is one observer.
Fifty students who could not take the exam on May 1 due to different reasons were also given a chance to get themselves registered online and allotted Satluj Public School as centre for the exam.
The videography of the exam was also conducted at this centre.
Out of a total of 43 centres, the exam was cancelled at these five centres on May 1 due to a clash of the re-scheduled AIEEE and prior-scheduled AFMC examination. The AIEEE exam was re-scheduled due to a paper leak.
Confusion and chaos prevailed at all 43 centres in the city when the students, many coming from far off places, were informed about the paper being postponed. At some of the centres,it was hardly 15 minutes prior to the start of the exam that the news reached either through other school principals or the CBSE office and the students were asked to leave the classrooms.
