AIG assualt accused in 14-day judicial remand

The three accused in the assault case of AIG S S Mand were remanded in 14-day judicial custody by a local court here on Monday. The accused — Maninderpal Singh alias Sunny Johar, his nephew Amandeep Singh and Rishi Banda were produced in the court after their four-day police remand ended. While the trio were sent to Ludhiana Central Jail, the police have added four more names — Maninderpal's friend Nitin Jethi, two drivers of Johar and Amandeep and another person — in the FIR.

Punjab to construct 3 new bus terminals

Chandigarh: The Punjab government will construct three new bus terminals at Sangrur, Kapurthala and Faridkot under the public-private partnership mode. "These bus terminals-cum-commercial complexes will be constructed under the PPP mode," a spokesman of the Pepsu Road Transport Corporaton said here today. The PRTC and the Punjab Infrastructure Development Board has invited tenders for this purpose, he said.

HP govt shifts Bilaspur, Una SPs

Shimla: Himachal government Monday shifted Superintendent of Bilaspur, Santosh Patial, and posted Anupam Sharma in his place while Sumedha Dwivedi, SP Una has now been posted as SP, Police Headquarters (Shimla). He will be replaced by Ravinder Kumar, Additional SP ( India Reserve Battalion, Bangarh). Transfer orders of SP Solan , Prem Singh Thakur, has been cancelled.

KCGC's new executive body elected

Amritsar: The 120-year old Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) elected its new executive body unanimously for the next five years on Monday. The incumbent Satyajit Singh Majithia was elected as president for third time while Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina was elected honourary secretary of Council for fourth time.

Nod for two-storey jail at Bathinda

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, on Monday, gave in-principle approval to construct a double-storey modern Central Jail at Bathinda over an area of 40 acres along with residential accommodations for staff. The prison will accommodate 2,500 inmates.
