  • The rooftop heliport idea has found many takers. After the Civil Aviation Ministry recently sorted out all outstanding issues with the Navy to give the country its second rooftop heliport at Taj Wellington Mews in Mumbai, they are now looking at proposals for setting up as many as ten such rooftop heliports.

In a reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Minister for Civil Aviation Praful Patel said the proposals are pending with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). While AIIMS, Delhi, and Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital, Pune, are rooting for the facility for quicker medical assistance, Kingfisher CEO Vijay Mallya’s United Breweries (Holdings) Ltd, Bangalore, Satnam Realtors, Mumbai, Bai Kabibai & Hansraj Morarji Charity Trust, Mumbai, have also submitted their proposals.
