The cabin crew of Air India Express,the low- cost subsidiary of Air India,have withdrawn their strike call. The crew had threatened to go on strike on grounds that the management had plans of outsourcing the recruitment of cabin crew to a private agency.
The management has said that it is withdrawing the private agency it had retained to recruit trained cabin crew. We have decided to withdraw our call for strike, said George Abraham,general secretary of Aviation Industry Employees Guild.
Air India spokesperson,however,could not confirm if the management had sent a letter to the union agreeing to withdraw the services of the private agency. The airline did not confirm if the contracts of the crew would be extended to five years.
