  • Mass hysteria, a two-minute stop & a dash to the airport...a quick date with Ranbir Kapoor & Katrina Kaif

Are they still on, Ranbir and Deepika that is?Is Katrina Kaif really spreading all the rumours about Deepika and Farhan Akhtar? What was it like playing Charlie Chaplin and that bronze statue? What really happened behind the scenes at the Wills India Fashion Week? As usual questions were popping like popcorn in our head as we took a seat, pretty much on time, at the Provogue showroom in Manimajra. Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina and Rajkumar Santoshi were scheduled to arrive any minute to talk about their film which releases on November 6: Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. It’s been long since Santoshi’s delivered a comic caper, and this one looks like a laugh all the way. But before we could get to that, all hell broke loose as soon as the starry duo stepped out of their car and into the showroom. It was like this — they came, they posed, they sat, tried to talk, felt completely cornered, and well, left. In a matter of minutes! This was the ajab din part. Now, the ghazab kahani is that we managed to get Ranbir on the phone, and here’s what he had to say about his film: ‘’It’s a joyful entertainer. You can cry, laugh, clap, sing songs along with it. Plus, it’s my first comedy, and I must say it was real hard to do it,’’ the doe-eyed actor’s voice crackled on the loudspeaker as we strained our ears to catch every word. Quiz him about the different characters he’s playing in the film, and he says it was difficult to portray all of them had Santoshi not guided him through. ‘’Characters and story drives the film, they are the USP, and I had to give it my best shot,’’ Ranbir, however, says his real self comes closest to Sid of Wake up Sid. While he’s never got any bolly-good tips from Rishi and Neetu Kapoor, Ranbir says he’s okay with that, and would rather like making his own mistakes and learning from them. As for the competition, ‘’it’s good and healthy, and no, it doesn’t get to me. If you work with honesty and sincerity, it all falls in place.’’ Still you have the advantage of the Kapoor name tag? ‘’Well, let’s put it like this: I only see the advantages, never disadvantages.’’ Positive, are we!

    ... contd.
