Devgn will coordinate a live webcast during which Modi will answer select questions.
An official release from the CMO said Google had invited Devgn to host the session.
The actor recently invested in a 25-MW solar power plant, a joint venture project in solar park at Charanka.
"The CM will pick eight questions from all 5,000-odd ones we have received so far. This will be followed by a webcast, where Ajay Devgn will introduce the selected participants who will then ask their questions and the CM will respond. The chat will streamed live on Youtube and Modi's website," said a source close to the development.
He added that readers could post their questions on several forums including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Modi's website till August 29.
In a bid to create a buzz in the virtual world in a poll year, Modi has modelled this exercise on the lines of ones undertaken by US President Barack Obama and Australian PM Julia Gillard.
"The Hangout has received over 5,000 questions from India and across the world. So far, we have seen immense diversity in the questions. Many people have questions on Gujarat's development while others have sought to know about specific sectors. The failures of the UPA have also formed a large number of questions," said Bhagyesh Jha, principal secretary of sports, youth and cultural activities department.
Some of the aspiring participants for the session have also chosen to air their personal grievances. A PHD scholar questions Modi on lack of jobs while other questions relate to rising inflation and even include jibes on the success of the Congress's recent "Ghar nu Ghar" scheme!
