Rajasthan Royals left-arm spinner Harmeet Singh met the BCCI's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) chief Ravi Sawani on Saturday. According to a source,Harmeet divulged details of how teammate Ajit Chandila introduced him to bookies in February. Harmeet had earlier met the Delhi police during their investigation into spot-fixing in the IPL,and the BCCI had issued the 20-year-old a show cause notice for failing to first inform their ACSU of the approach by bookies. Excerpts from Harmeets statement: On meeting with bookies Ajit Chandila took me to a hotel in Mumbai, where he introduced me to some of his friends, whom he referred as bhai log. They started saying, let him play 2-3 matches and gain some confidence. He has done well in the U-19 World Cup. When I heard this,I realised that they were up to something fishy. I straightaway told them that I didnt want to get into these things. They continued talking, saying Sreesanth and Ankeet to apne hai,woh to kar lenge (Sreesanth and Ankeet Chavan are ours, they will do the task). Also read: 'My most terrifying experience' They were talking about getting a big player. They mentioned the name of (Shane) Watson. I started feeling very uneasy and left the room. I didnt stay in the room for more than 3-4 minutes. I went downstairs and Chandila joined me after 15-20 minutes. I dont know what they did in the room after I left. I asked Chandila ye sab kya hai? (What is all this?) He said beta kuch nahi hai, tension mat le. Apne bhai log hai. (Its nothing. Dont get tensed up. They are our brothers). I left with him,had food and left. I didnt stick around for too long with him. All of this happened in February. I didnt meet any of them after that and next met Chandila during the IPL. I never met those people ever again in my life. It was only that meeting in the room for those 3-4 minutes. On police interrogation They didnt say a word to me. They just told me to help them out so that the guilty can be punished. They were god-like people. The ACP even called me and assured that nothing will happen to me. He told me that if a senior player cleverly calls me somewhere then it is not my fault. He understood my mental state when these three (Chandila,Sreesanth and Chavan) were arrested. As a 20-year-old kid,I was very scared. I didnt even talk about it with my father.
