Leaders of Punjab’s ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) are in for some luxury treatment when they go for their Vichar Baithak in Shimla in Himachal Pradesh.
Political Advisor to Chief Minister and Secretary of SAD Dr Daljeet Singh Cheema said, “Leaders and the party will contribute for the event. The party will discuss issues that can further strengthen it. SAD’s plans to contest elections in Haryana will also be discussed.”
With the party’s Vichar Baithak beginning on Thursday, Akali Cabinet ministers and legislators will stay in Shimla’s five-star Heritage Hotel Oberoi Cecil for the next three days. The hotel, not far away from the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, has 75 rooms. A room in this five-star hotel costs anywhere between Rs 13,500 and 30,000 per night. The tariff is negotiable, said a hotel official. “Booking has been closed for the next three days,” he added.
On September 12, the party will host lunch for 100 of its leaders at Wildflower Hall, a century-old five-star property, arguably the best in its category in the state. Members of the Gandhi family invariably check in at Wildflower Hall whenever on vacation.
Only last month, the BJP think tank was in Shimla for its Chintan Baithak. Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal and son Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal, who is also the president of the SAD, were declared state guests. The HP government has also booked two luxury suites at Peterhoff for state guests.
