Akhilesh assures RPN Singh of land allotment for central projects

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today assured the Home Ministry of allotting an administrative building for the Lucknow hub of National Investigating Agency (NIA) within a week. The CM also assured Minister of State for Home Affairs RPN Singh of starting the project of 640 km border roads along the Indo-Nepal border very soon.

Singh, who was in Lucknow, held a meeting with Akhilesh at his residence on Saturday for discussing various issues including land allocation for projects of central paramilitary forces.

Talking to mediapersons later in the day, Singh said that land allocation for various paramilitary projects like training and recruitment centres was pending in several districts of Uttar Pradesh including Lucknow, Rampur, Chandauli and Faizabad. He said that Yadav had promised to look into the matter immediately and resolve the issues.

"The CM also assured me he would take immediate action regarding border roads in patches along the Indo-Nepal border in the state," Singh told mediapersons. The Ministry of Home Affairs and Uttar Pradesh government have to construct roads in the border districts of Pilibhit, Lakhimpur, Bahraich, Shrawasti, Balrampur, Sidharth Nagar and Maharajganj. The project is worth Rs 1,600 crore, most of which is to be paid by MHA, Singh said.

He added that Akhilesh has assured that the NIA, which is functioning from a rented building in Lucknow, will be allotted an administrative building within a week. Singh said land allocation for establishing NIA hub in Lucknow has already been completed but the agency needs a temporary building for starting its functions immediately. The MoS also requested the CM to remove VAT levied on canteens of central paramilitary forces in the state.

Singh, Congress MP from Kushinagar, discussed the Maitreya Buddha project of Kushinagar with Akhilesh. He has requested the CM to pursue investment on lands that have already been acquired for the project by the state government in Kushinagar.
