Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday visited the family of the slain pradhan of Balipur village, Nanhe Yadav, in Pratapgarh district and assured the family of all possible support from his government.
The killings of Nanhe and his younger brother Suresh Yadav triggered a chain of events that led to the murder of Circle Officer of Kunda, Ziaul Haque, on March 2 evening.
Apart from giving financial help — Rs 20 lakh each to the widows of Nanhe and Suresh —the Chief Minister told Nanhe's father, Dukhi Ram Yadav, that if his family members were indeed innocent, he would take up the matter with senior police officers to ensure that no action was taken against them.
In the FIR based on the complaint of the now suspended, four persons from Nanhe's family were named in connection with the murder of the CO. Dukhi Ram has been claiming that for a family, which had lost two of its family members in close succession, it was far-fetched to think that they would attack a policeman.
Accompanied by Urban Development Minister Azam Khan, Akhilesh arrived in Balipur around 10.30 am and met the family of Dukhi Ram. He stayed at his residence for about half-an-hour amidst heavy security. "I spoke to the family members and have noted all their demands. The government will ensure that the young children of the family could continue with their education. They ran a school, which they wanted to become a government-aided school. There will be no problem in (granting it)," Akhilesh told the waiting medipersons outside the pradhan's house.
On the probe into the the police officer's murder, Akhilesh reiterated that the CBI will be probing the matter. "Whether it is about locating the bullets or the weapon or the circumstances (that led to the officer's death), everything will become clear in the CBI investigation. We will provide all possible help at all levels to the CBI for the probe. Anybody who is involved in the conspiracy will not be spared," he said.
