Alfa Laval posted a 71 per cent jump in net profit for the quarter ended September 30, at Rs 366.64 million as compared to Rs 213.75 million for the corresponding period a year ago.
The company sales turnover for the quarter was Rs 2435.52 million, an increase by about 20 per cent while the earnings before depreciation, interest and tax at Rs 588.09 million rose by about 60 per cent over the earnings in the corresponding period last year.
According to a statement from the company, the quarter saw a strong growth in sales of equipment division while the process technology division continued its buoyant growth trend.
For the nine months, the company's sales turnover at Rs 6,502.52 million increased by about 15 per cent over the turnover for the corresponding period of the previous year, the statement said.
The operating profit for the nine-month period ended September 30, 2009 stood at Rs 1,368.41 million improved by about 28%
Meanwhile the net profit at Rs 903.33 million was up by around 30 per cent over the corresponding period of the previous year.
Nish Patel, managing director, having decided to take up a assignment in Sweden within the Group, will be leaving the company on December 31, the release said.
Contract from Vietnamese firm
Alfa Laval won an order from PetroVietnam Group of Vietnam for supply of equipment and engineering solutions for their proposed process plant, which is being set up at central Vietnam to produce fuel ethanol. The order value is about Rs 650 million and delivery is scheduled for 2010. It is expected to go on-stream by 2011.
