Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, who has been booked in Kanpur for alleged financial fraud, said on Friday that the charges against him were mere "conjectures", which were not "tangible".

"I have got nothing to hide. Everything is in public domain and on the Internet. These are public limited companies, which are audited by auditors. It is easy to bring charges against Amitabh Bachchan and myself, as this garners greater TRPs for television channels," he said.

He said the allegations "are conjectures, which are never tangible".

Singh and his wife Pankaja Kumari Singh have been booked for alleged financial fraud amounting to about Rs 500 crore.

An FIR was lodged at Babupurwa police station in Kanpur on Thursday, accusing the SP general secretary and his wife of amalgamating companies for converting black money into white, informed Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Brij Lal.

The name of actor Amitabh Bachchan also figured in the 14-page complaint as director of one of the companies, the ADG said.

The SP leader said that Bachchan was implicated in the Barabanki land case too, but was later absolved of all charges.

More the cases of corruption bigger the political clout he has. So is the case of Amr Singh. Lalu, Mulayam, Mayawati, Amar they all were from humble background but look at the fortune they have ammassed from the money of poor people. It is the money of those who work hard in the feilds and on the roads. In this country we actaully are immune to such corruption. Our conscious does not prick us. We are too bothered about what Shilpa Settey is wearing and why Richard Gere kissed her. But we as a nation of conscious peple have never gone out of the way to launch a public movement against such brokers.It is sad, We often target vulnerable people but we dont raise voice against big fish. Why Oh my countrymen, please rise and start a movement against such criminals who steal the food from the mouth of common people. Let us take a resolve to raise voice against such goons.
