The city police on Sunday claimed that all the allegations of rape by the 17-year-old Hyderabad based minor girl were false.
The girl, who was rescued from the red light area in Budhwar Peth in 2006, had alleged that 14 personnel from the Pune city police raped her at a lodge in Nana Peth in February 2005. Divisional assistant commissioner of police Suresh Pote told the media persons that girl was clearly lying.
"She had made similar allegation against the Hyderbad police last year. The Hyderbad police in four offences wanted her advocate named Khalid, who has now gone absconding," said Pote. "We don't know the intention of the girl. But she has made false allegations damaging the reputation of Pune police," he added. Pote admitted that a team of Hyderabad police has rescued the girl from the brothel in Budhwar Peth in January 2006.
The girl had also said that Faraskhana police had arrested her on the day of Dashehra in 2005. She alleged that police noted her name as "Seema" from Nimbada in Rajashthan despite of telling them repeatedly that she was from Hyderbad.
When asked, Pote said "Seema" was her assumed name. While the city police claimed her allegations as baseless, the girl maintained that whatever she said was truth.
The girl told the media persons that a high profile person, who raped her in Hyderabad, influenced the police to file false complaints against her lawyer Khalid. Meanwhile, the crime branch has initiated a probe into this matter.
