Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee appealed to the abductors of Rajdhani train drivers to release the duo and said she is ready for talks.

Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee appealed to the abductors of Rajdhani train drivers to release the duo and said she is ready for talks,a demand put forth by the kidnappers.

“I am always in favour of talks when it concerns Railways. So I earnestly appeal to them (the kidnappers) to release the drivers,” Mamata told reporters in New Delhi.

She asked the kidnappers to identify the venue for the talks as it was not possible for her to reach her at the spot immediately.

“If someone wants to talk to me,he can fix up an appointment and talk to me,” she later told a Bengali news channel.

Noting that the incident was a law and order issue of the state government,Mamata said she was equally concerned about the railway operation and railway safety.

“The passengers are in distress. My appeal to them is to allow the train to go,” she said.

“My first and foremost priority is the safety and security of the passengers. Those who have done this should release the drivers and let the train proceed to its destination,” she said.
