The city police on Monday nabbed a UP-based gang allegedly involved in the theft of aluminium and copper extension wires from the GIDC areas in Ahmedabad, along with material worth Rs 2.5 lakh. The accused are Zakir Sheikh, Imran alias Babu Sheikh, Israr Pathan and Imtiaz Sheikh. The police said the accused have been stealing metal wires, iron scrap and other things for the last three to four years. Sub-Inspector M K Sadat said: “The gang targeted GIDC areas in Changodar, Sanand, Naroda, Vatva and Odhav to steal aluminium and copper wires and iron scrap. They were staying in different colonies in Juhapura and Sarkhej. They were previously involved in several theft cases.”
