Amandeep, Veeru steer Youngsters Club to facile win

Amandeep and Veeru Baidwan shared six goals between them as both netted three goals each to steer Youngsters Club, Chandigarh to an easy 7-0 victory over MR Football Academy, Nahan, in a lop-sided encounter on the second day of the 7th Kanwar Harbans Lal Memorial football tournament being conducted by the Youngsters Club, at the Sector 17 Football Stadium on Saturday.

Right from the beginning, both the teams made their intensions clear by playing attacking football. As a result, the deadlock didn't last for long and it was Amandeep who put Youngsters Club ahead by scoring in the 15th minute of the play.

Despite making numerous forays into the opposition territory, the Youngsters Club failed to double the lead until the 40th minute of the match when Ramandeep slotted the ball to make it 2-0. The Nahan team played well but they missed out on a couple of sitters and had to go into the break trailing the hosts team by 2-0.

After the breather, the Youngsters Club dominated the proceedings and Amandeep scored his second goal of the match to further consolidate the lead for the team.

Five minutes later, Veeru joined the party and he scored his first goal of the match before adding another to his name through a clinical finish in the 70th minute of the play. The hapless Nahan defenders couldn't contain both Amandeep and Veeru as these two players added one more goal to their names to pile on misery for the visiting team. Amandeep put the ball behind the net in the 75th minute while Veeru also scored his third goal of the match in the 85th minute.

Meanwhile, the match between District Football Association, Ambala and Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar ended in a 1-1 draw and both the teams split the points. Deepu opened the account for the Ambala team in the 11th minute of the play.
