The AIIMS today filed its report in a Delhi court on the medical condition of Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh,an accused in the 2008 cash-for-vote scam, saying he was hospitalised due to fluctuating health.
Singh was admitted in AIIMS following complications related to post-renal transplant, diarrhoea, urinary tract infection, diabetes, dehydration and hypothyroid hypertension,Sanjay Gupta,Additional Professor of the Department of Nephrology at AIIMS,said in his report.
The two-page report, submitted before Special Judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal, said Singh was suffering from multiple health problems.
The S Creatinine is fluctuating between 1.3-1.6 mg/dl (normal for him is 0.8-0.9 mg/dl). He (Amar Singh) has persistent tachycardia (heart rate exceeding normal range).
He continues to vomit and also has diarrhoea for which the gastroenterologist has suggested automatic function tests and endoscopy with mucosal biopsy, the report said.
The doctor said any kidney transplant patient, showing more than 30 per cent acute rise in S Creatinine level, needs hospitalisation.
All renal transplant patients are on immunosuppresive medications (to prevent rejection of transplanted organs) which make them prone to infections… As a routine, any renal transplant patient showing more than 30 per cent acute rise in S Creatinine needs admission for finding cause and managing the same,” the report said.
The court had yesterday directed the AIIMS to furnish a report on the medical condition of Amar Singh, who was rushed to the premier medical institute on September 12 from Tihar Jail, where he was lodged following his arrest in the 2008
cash-for-vote scam.
Meanwhile,Tihar Jail authorities,in pursuance of the court’s earlier order, also filed its report explaining the circumstances under which Singh was shifted to AIIMS.
Singh was examined by a super specialist team of five doctors on the evening of September 12 and they recommended the the patient required care under an institute where all specialities and super specialities care is available… preferably AIIMS, the report said.
