Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh on Monday urged Governor B L Joshi to order an inquiry by a Central agency into the framing of a fraud case against him, allegedly at the instance of BSP leaders and senior civil and police officers.
In a memorandum submitted to the Governor, Amar said the FIR lodged against him in Kanpur smacked of political vendetta and was designed to defame him, his family and associates.
Amar also asked Chief Minister Mayawati to tender an apology and initiate action against her party leaders and officers whose involvement in the matter had been exposed through the cellphone call records of complainant Shivakant Tripathi. The SP leader alleged Tripathi was a business partner of Babupurwa police station SHO Dinesh Tripathi and the latter was posted there only two hours before the complaint was lodged.
Amar said he was only a shareholder of the companies in question and the company secretaries concerned were empowered to answer questions regarding the mergers.
Amar also played a CD where Mayawati is shown demanding money from her MLAs, MPs and ministers for her birthday celebrations and for party fund.
