With the completion of the Ambala Zirakpur four-laning project, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is all set to formally inaugurate the project on December 10.
Union Minister for Shipping, Roads, Transport and Highway T R Baalu will throw open the project for which a toll plaza has been set up at Dappar.
“T R Baalu will inaugurate the project on December 10,” said NHAI project director Colonel KP Sharma.
Constructed at a cost of Rs 282 crore, the highway has unofficially been thrown open to the public.
GMR Company project head Colonel Sanjeev Puri said, “We completed the work in time. The toll plaza has been constructed at Dappar. Toll tax rates have been displayed for the convenience of commuters. It is Rs 25 for cars and Rs 80 for buses and trucks. The toll plaza became operational on November 25. Despite several odds, the company has successfully managed to complete the project. November 14 was set as the deadline,” said Puri.
The other projects along the highway that have been completed include: three bridges parallel to the Yadvendra Bridge between Panchkula and Zirakpur, a flyover at Zirakpur, a bridge on the Ghaggar between Zirakpur and Dera Bassi, an underpass at Dappar village and another bridge 20 km from the Dappar village.
