  • In 2008-09, Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) recorded total passenger traffic figures of 2.34 crore compared to 2.5 crore in 2007-08 - down by 6.4%. Delhi airport recorded passenger figures for 2008-09 at 2.28 crore.

While nobody wants predict what lies in future as far as recession in the India’s aviation industry is concerned, airlines and airports definitely miss the previous highs that lasted roughly till July 2008. “It was after July last year that the decline in passenger figures started,” said the MIAL spokesperson. Passengers traffic figures like those of January 2008 (23.75 lakh) and December 2007 (23.74) lakh are certainly missed by the aviation industry.
