Amritsar: A local resident today levelled serious allegations against two SAD (B) MLAs, Inderbir Singh Bolaria from Amritsar (South) and Malkit Singh from Jandiala Guru, for supporting land mafia men.

Arun Abrol, while alleging that there was threat to his life, said he was a tenant in a commercial building at Sultanwind Road and has been asked to vacate the premises immediately despite the fact that he has taken a stay from the local court against forcible eviction.

“My life is under constant threat. Supporters of the two MLAs had earlier beaten me up,” said Abrol, while talking to mediapersons. He was accompanied by his advocate Aman Prashar, who said the next hearing of the case was fixed for December 23. “I approached the police with complaints, but justice was not done,” said Abrol, who runs ‘Shivam Ply and Glass House’ from the building owned by one Jaswinder Kaur till recently. “She sold the building to one Narinder Singh, who is a close relative of Bolaria. I have been paying my rents regularly, but the new owners, using political clout, want me to immediately vacate the building,” said Abrol, adding that he met IG (Border Range), who directed the SSP to ensure his safety, but to no avail.

Meanwhile, Bolaria and Malkit Singh said their names were being unnecessarily dragged into the controversy. “Yes, the new owner is my relative, but how am I responsible for his deeds,” said

Bolaria, adding that if Abrol has any grievance he should meet him.

Malkit said he had nothing to do with the controversy and allegations against him were false.
