Maharashtra wicketkeeper appeals for caught behind in a cricket match in Chandigarh on Sunday

The score-board suggested the progress of the match between Haryana and Maharashtra at the Sector 16 Cricket stadium. Seven of the Haryana batswomen returned back to the pavilion without opening their account and none of the other batswomen could reach double figures.

This dramatic batting collapse was led by Amruta who made full use of the pitch and returned with a rich haul of five wickets that helped Maharashtra crush Haryana by ten wickets in the first match of the National Junior (Under-19) Women Cricket tournament held on Sunday.

Electing to bat first, Haryana batswomen were greeted by a hostile bowling from Amruta. Her overall figures of 4.2-2-3-5 were the best of the day. The fact that the highest individual score came in the form of extras (8) revealed the quality of Maharashtra bowling. Seema remained unbeaten on seven, while Kavita contributed six runs. The team was bowled out for 26 runs in 14.2 overs. Apart from Amruta, Rameshwari bagged 2 for 3, while Vishaka picked up 1 for 10.

Defending a small total, the Haryana bowlers were unable to repeat the performance of their opposition bowlers as Maharashtra chased down the total in just 6.3 overs without losing any wicket. Prachi top scored with 13 runs. Eleven of the runs came in the form of extras for the winning team.

    Brief scores:
    Haryana:
26 all out in 14.2 overs (Seema 7 no, Kavita 6, Amruta 5 for 3, Rameshwari 2 for 3, Vishaka 1 for 10); Maharashtra: 27 for no loss in 6.3 overs (Prachi 13 no, Amruta 3 no)
