‘‘Forcibly stopping the rickshaw I was travelling in, they shouted and asked me to withdraw the complaint. Warning me that if I did not do it, they would throw acid on my face and then kill me. As I started to run away they fired at me,’’ says Rizvi.
Two passersby then escorted her to the Proctor’s office, a couple of hundred meters away from the spot where she was attacked. ‘‘Though it’s a main university road, it gets quite dark after night and the street lighting is quite inadequate. Attempts by two people at raising an alarm, made the four attackers flee on their motorbikes,’’ says Rizvi.
