An Army band will play at the Chandigarh War Memorial, which was dedicated to the nation by President APJ Abdul Kalam on August 17. “First, we will arrange the band on one weekend a month but will later have it every weekend depending on the response,” said GOC-in-C, Western Command, Lt Gen Daljeet Singh.

The War Memorial, built by a citizens’ initiative led by The Indian Express, containing names of about 8,500 post-Independence martyrs, is now on the city’s tourist map. Vivek Atray, Director of Tourism, says it will be put on the UT Administration’s website.
