China has overtaken the United States as the world's largest market for active smart devices, according to new data.

According to a survey by mobile analytics firm Flurry, China is expected to account for 246 million active Android and iOS smartphones and tablets by the end of February 2013, as compared with 230 million in the US, CBS News reports. Flurry's vice president of marketing Peter Farago stated that according to the data, based on the daily tracking of 2.4 billion app sessions, the US cannot take the lead back from China because of the vast difference in population.

However, Farago said that India is the only country that can overtake China's record with its population of just over 1.2 billion, as against China's current population of over 1.3 billion, although India had a current install base of just 19 million smart devices in January this year. A distant third with barely 20 percent the market of the US and China was the UK, which counted 43 million smart devices last month, the report added.
