‘Splendour’, the annual day function of the Convent of Rani Jhansi in R K Puram, the junior branch of the Manav Sthali School, was held on Saturday at the auditorium of Manav Sthali School in Rajendra Nagar. A cultural programme was organised by students from nursery to Class VII. Dances, plays and group song performances celebrating life and friendship were held. The highlight of the event was an enactment of Rabindranath Tagore’s Phalguni by middle school students. The highlight of the event were the special awards given to children from various classes, in especially created categories celebrating achievements not just in academics but also music, oratory, dance, sports, social behaviour, artistic skills, and computer skills. “It feels additionally special to receive the ‘humble achiever’ award for being adept in social graces,” Supriya, a class VI student and award winner, said. Parents too were appreciative of the event. “It was remarkable to see every child being given a chance to perform onstage,” Sakshi Pahuja, whose five-year-old daughter participated in the Bharatnatyam performance, said.
