The CBI team probing anomalies in the implementation of the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) in Lucknow district conducted simultaneous searches at 12 places,including the houses of former CMO Dr AK Shukla and former Deputy CMO Dr YS Sachan,on Thursday.
While Shukla is in jail in a case of financial irregularities,Sachan,who was his co-accused,died in mysterious circumstances in Lucknow jail on June 22.
Among the places the CBI searched were the offices of Lucknow CMO and NRHM,the office of an Ahmedabad-based company Biotech Vision at Kalol in Gujarat,two others firms in Kanpur and Moradabad,and the houses of four officials of the Family Welfare Department in Lucknow.
It also searched the office of Dr Sachan which was earlier sealed by the Lucknow police.
The CBI teams searched for documents related to certain supplies made to the department and details of payments released. The searches were going on till late in the evening.
An official said the search operation in Lucknow began simultaneously at the houses of Shukla,Sachan,administrative officer at CMO office Dr Charan Jeet Yadav,and clerks Dinesh Singh,Sanjay Anand and Prem Chand Verma.
Yadav,Singh,Anand and Verma were earlier arrested by the Lucknow police in two separate cases of anomalies in NRHM schemes registered at the Wazirganj police station on the complaint of Rajendra Singh,Joint Director (Administration) in the Family Welfare Department.
While others were released on bail later,Yadav is still in jail.
The searches were also on at the office and residences of Vivek Jain of Jain Medical Hall in Moradabad,offices of Cee Kay Hospitals and Suppliers in Kanpur and offices and residences of Gauri Shanker of Omega Security Services and Ravindra Bahadur Singh of Omraj Enterprises in Lucknow.
Gauri Shanker and Ravindra Bahadur too were arrested earlier by the Lucknow Police in one of the cases registered at Wazirganj police station,but both were released on bail later.
The private firms facing CBI search operations had supplied medical equipment,ambulances,security guards and the manpower for class IV staff required in various NRHM schemes.
