The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today arrested the eighth accused Ajay Garg,another close associate of Union Railway Minister Pawan Bansals nephew Vijay Singla from Chandigarh. Ajay Garg,who owns the multi-crore IEC Gensets Limited - one of the major suppliers of electrical equipments to Indian Railways and Delhi Public Schools,besides various other multinationals - was arrested from Sector 22,Chandigarh. Gargs phone calls were also recorded by the CBI in the ongoing investigations in Railways bribery scam. The CBI on Friday had arrested the nephew of the Railway Minister for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 90 lakh to fix a top railway appointment. Businessman Vijay Singla,who is the son of Bansal's sister,was arrested from an upcoming mall in Chandigarh's Sector 28,where he had allegedly gone to pick up the bribe. Ajay Garg is a resident of Sector 6,Panchkula. The company owned by Garg,IEC Gensets Limited,is a Rs. 2000 million company and has its units in Derabassi,Punjab; Barwala,Haryana and Kathua,Jammu. Besides railways,Garg's company is also a supplier of Diesel Generating Sets,MV equipments and LT panels to NHPC,NTPC,IRCON,Indian Army,Indian Oil,Bharat Petroleum and HSIIDC. Garg is also a supplier of equipments to Delhi Public Schools and various other prominent educational universities across the country. Besides that,his company supplies equipment to various multinational banks,major multinational food chains,real estate giants,major telecom operators and multinational corporate houses of the country. Ajay Garg,Sandeep Goyal and Vijay Singla were the three close-friends and their names have figured in the FIR registered by CBI in the Railways bribery scam. According to sources,Vijay Singla,Sandeep Goyal and Ajay Garg were also majorly into real estate business in Chandigarh,Haryana's NCR region,Punjab,Delhi and Jammu.
