While one more rocket, supposedly fired from the Pakistan side along with four other shells on Friday night was found lying in a paddy field at Dhaleke village near the Indo-Pak border, the BSF on Sunday said the attacks could have been engineered by jehadi groups across the border.
The BSF officials, who held a ‘flag meeting’ with Pak Rangers on Saturday, said they did not rule out that certain Pakistani agencies may have extended help to militant groups. “Our assessments based on reliable sources reveal that jehadi forces or militant groups operating from Pakistan are behind the successive attacks,” DIG, BSF, Mohammad Aquil said, adding that Pak Rangers are yet to respond to their queries.
“During the last attacks in July, we had lodged a strong protest with Pakistan. Pak Rangers had then promised that they were not only probing the matter but would also act against the forces behind the attack. Nothing, however, happened. We have now raised alertness along the border and would retaliate if such attacks happen again,” said Aquil.
The rocket found in Dhaleke village is reportedly similar to the ones found earlier in the villages of Mode, Dhanoe, Rattan and Pull-Kanjari. “The rockets, it seems, were fired simultaneously,” said a BSF officer.
