  • The city’s Metro services were disrupted for almost an hour after a man committed suicide by jumping in front a Metro train at Rabindra Sarobar station today.

Arnab Mukherjee (25), a resident of 3B, Shyambose Road in Chetla, was working as a medical representative with a private company for the last one year. However, according to his family members, the MSc student in microbiology was not happy with his job profile. His hectic schedule had even taken a toll on his health.

Today morning Arnab left his home at 9.20 am, on his bike, to go to office. However, on reaching the Metro station, he parked his bike outside and jumped on the tracks in front of a Garia-bound train. He died on the spot.

Train services on the track was resumed only after 10.26 am.

“My son used to earn Rs 10,000 a month. He was not happy with his job and wanted to do research. He was also undergoing counseling because of his depression,” said Jishukesh Mukherjee, Arnab’s father.
