Following the detection of a fresh case of swine flu in Solan, members of a Rapid Response Team (RRT) of the Health department visited the house of the patient, a 19-year-old girl, and began contact treatment of 15 people to ensure the prevent of spread of the disease in the area. This is the ninth swine flu case reported in Himachal.
Solan Chief Medical Officer Dr Ashok Tagra said the girl was brought to the regional hospital on Sunday evening.
After check-up, she was referred to the Indira Gandhi Medical College in Shimla.
Dr Tagra said her blood samples, which were taken late last evening, tested positive for swine flu on Monday.
Subsequently, the RRT team was sent to administer contact treatment to 13 members of her family and two members of the para-medical staff, who had attended the patient last evening.
The girl had visited Kurukshetra in Haryana two days ago and complained of breathlessness and body ache upon return.
Earlier this month, a woman had died from swine flu in the town, the first case where a swine flu patient lost the life in Himachal.
A case of swine flu was also detected at Chitkara University after a MBA student had tested positive last month.
Subsequently, two cases of swine flu were detected in Kasauli and one at Dharmapur town of the district.
