The Mumbai police on Tuesday filed a supplementary chargesheet in the 26/11 terror attacks case naming LeT operative Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal as one of the key conspirators.

The Crime Branch filed a voluminous 14,676-page chargesheet in the court of Additional Metropolitan Magistrate P S Rathod, according to Joint Commissioner Himanshu Roy.

Ansari, a native of Maharashtra's Beed district, had taught Hindi to the lone surviving 26/11 gunman Ajmal Kasab and his nine accomplices — all of whom had been killed in the counter-offensive launched by the Indian security forces during the attacks — in order to hide their Pakistani identity.

Ansari, according to intelligence agencies, was present in the control room set up at Karachi during the assault and was giving instructions to the terrorists holed up inside Nariman House, a Jewish outreach centre.

The chargesheet includes the names of 1,783 witnesses and 47 others wanted in connection with the attacks.

Ansari was subjected to custodial interrogation after he was brought here from Delhi where he had been arrested following his deportation from Saudi Arabia in June this year.

The 26/11 handler was also allegedly involved in other terror-related cases in Maharashtra, including the Aurangabad arms haul case, 2010 German Bakery blast in Pune and the plan to attack Maharashtra Police Academy in Nashik.
