Terming Pakistan as a "state in decline, exporting terrorism", Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor has said the Mumbai terror strikes have exposed the neighbouring country's complicity.

"Mumbai terror attack has exposed Pakistan's complicity. The hatred for India is so deeply ingrained in the Pakistani psyche that it fails to see the benefits of cooperation with India," Kapoor said, delivering the Gen B C Joshi memorial lecture at the Department of Defence Studies at Pune University on Wednesday.

He also pointed at the increased infiltration into Jammu and Kashmir from across the border this year.

Expressing concern over proliferation of nuclear technology from China to Pakistan, Gen Kapoor said India needs to take note of the implications of increased infrastructure in Tibet.

"We need to take note of the likely implications of the improvement of infrastructure in Tibet, rapid modernisation of armed forces as well as strategic initiatives in the Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean region which could impact our security calculus in the region," he said.

He, however, said the situation along the Chinese border had generally been peaceful notwithstanding the media reports.

On the naxalite menace, he said it was primarily a "socio-economic" problem, adding the Army was nevertheless, committed to assist the affected states in the fight against insurgency.

Polluted Pakistani PsycheBy: Ramachandran R | 21-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward PPP --> DO you know what it stands for, Polluted Pakistani Psyche..... For decades you Pakistani's have sown seeds of hatred in the name of Allah..... Not just Pakistani's...also the Americans have been perpetrators of trouble for India... Are we against the Americans? British were ruing India for more than 150 years.... Are we (Indians) not living in harmony with them? THen why are we (Indians) dead against Pakistani's and Pakistani establishments? It's because the very idea behind creation of Pakistan is hatred for India.... And this will go only after the State of Pakistan formed on thin lines of relegion cease to exist..... We need good & responsible neighbours with whom we will live in harmony... Not with the perpetrators of terrorism and trouble....You deserve be bombed to stone age... Give up the hatred for India...We can live as brothers... Even more we can live united as human beings
Pakistani PsycheBy: J.M.Naik | 20-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Mutual hatred is ingrained in both Indian and Pakistani psyches. The General cannot claim that all on this side of the border are angels and devils on the other side.
False!By: Devasahayam | 24-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Pakistan as a nation was based on hate of Hindus ("2-nation theory" needed absurdity of "1-nation Islam" as foundation--and was invalidated by Pak tyranny against Banglas, which was worse than Apartheid of Strijdom's time) and that nation has never changed--while India's policy was never based on hate of Pak. Indeed, many erstwhile Banglas including Maulana Bhashani (not exactly pro-India anytime) pointed this fact out repeatedly!
Pakistan has done immense wrong, but still young students minds should not be poisonedBy: antashamsun | 20-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor%u2019 has made a statement of hatred at the right time but at the wrong place He should have given lectures on killing fanaticism, communal hatred and the need for international understanding. What would have been the reaction of India, if the Pakistan%u2019s Army general went to talk to Pakistan University Students saying that %u201CDemolition of Babri Masjid, Gujarat massacre killing more than 2000 minorities, Malegaon, Modassa, Ajmer, Samjhauta Express, Nandad, Tenkasi, Mecca Masjid and bombs and blasts at many other place by Hindu Al-Qaeda outfits show that the hatred for Islam and Muslims is so deeply ingrained in the RSS and BJP psyche and Indian security officials co-operate with them and hide the facts and arrest the innocent Muslims and allow the Hindu terrorists get away and India fails to see the co-operation with Pakistan%u201D What will we in India feel. Fight Pakistan where you have to fight them but do not poison the minds of common folk and the students.
