Premier football club Manchester United has entered into a four-year shirt sponsorship agreement with risk advisor and consultancy firm Aon Corporation and the deal will be effective from the start of the 2010/11 season. As per the agreement, the Aon brand would feature on the Manchester United shirt for four years, the club said in a statement. Manchester United said that "It has reached a significant global partnership and principal sponsorship agreement with Aon Corporation. to take effect from the start of the 2010/11 season." Aon would replace American International Group (AIG),which has not renewed its sponsorship for the club following the economic crisis severely impacting the insurer's businesses. However, the club has not announced the terms of the partnership. "We are delighted to be entering such an important relationship with a company of the stature of Aon and to have its logo adorn our shirts from the start of the 2010/11 season. "We look forward to being closely aligned with the world leader in risk management,a firm which shares our values and is an exciting partner for Manchester United," Manchester United Chief Executive David Gill said. The New York Times has stated that the deal is believed to be of around 20 million pounds (USD 32.5 million) a year,a substantial increase from 14 million pounds that AIG had been paying. However, neither Aon nor Manchester United have announced the financials of the deal yet. Aon Corp,a global risk advisor and human capital consultant, has 500 offices in more than 120 countries. Commenting on the deal,Aon President and chief executive officer Greg Case said,"While we are delighted that our brand will be showcased to the over 330 million fans of Manchester United as well as the countless followers of football worldwide,we also are extremely excited about the opportunity to maximize the value of this partnership globally."
