New Delhi, September 10: The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered the initiation of contempt proceedings against few members of a controversial music school in Mumbai for making remarks against several judges of the Bombay High Court besides the Chief Justice of India.

Perusing the replies by Leila David and Annette Kotian, members of Vasai-based Boss Music School, a Bench headed by Justice Arijit Pasayat observed, “we have considered the reply filed by the petitioners (David and Kotian) which are equally contemptuous and we feel that action needs to be taken against them for contempt of this court and charges will be framed against them.”

While asking Solicitor General G H E Vahanvati to assist the court in the matter, the Bench also took serious note of the documents annexed in their reply. “You have threatened the CJI that if the situation is not resolved, the CJI will find himself in hot water,” the Bench said. “You have drawn cartoons of the CJI and compared him with Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussain. Comparing the CJI with Laden and Saddam does not take away your fallacious allegations.”

Kotian, 23, and David, in her 80s, who were issued contempt notices last month, alleged that the CJI refused to stop the “genocide” committed by the judges against their school and denied them the basic fundamental right of life and liberty. This further annoyed the Bench.
