Apex court rejects Morani bail plea

The Supreme Court rejected the interim bail plea of Cineyug Films founder Karim Morani,who is in jail for the last two months for his alleged involvement in the 2G spectrum scam.

The Supreme Court on Monday rejected the interim bail plea of Cineyug Films founder Karim Morani,who is in jail for the last two months for his alleged involvement in the 2G spectrum scam. Morani had sought the interim bail on medical grounds.

An apex court Bench of Justices G S Singhvi and Justice H L Dattu advised Morani to approach the jail authorities for ensuring that he gets proper medical care. The Bench assured that Morani’s status as an accused would not deprive him of receiving medical treatment. Morani is named as a co-conspirator in the CBI chargesheet related to the illegal money trail of Rs 214 crore in the 2G scam. Senior advocate Siddharth Luthra,representing Morani,said his client ailed from memory loss and erratic pulse beat,a result of stress and physical exhaustion in custody.
