People's Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday appointed leading cancer surgeon Dr Sameer Kaul as a spokesperson of the party. Dr Kaul had joined PDP earlier this month in the presence of PDP patron and former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti. Dr Kaul,who is from Wazirbagh in Srinagar,is at present a senior consultant,surgical and clinical oncology,at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital,New Delhi. He has done his MBBS from Government Medical College (GMC),Srinagar,and his post-graduation in head and neck surgery from Tata Memorial Hospital,Mumbai. Dr Kaul said he would try and take the partys viewpoint to the rest of the country so as to involve people in debates and discussions on PDPs policies and programmes. Being the partys spokesman in New Delhi,I will also try to involve leaders of different shades of political opinions to discuss the policies of PDP. PDP is the best platform to work for the betterment of the people and to strengthen a composite culture in the state in general and Kashmir Valley in particular, Dr Kaul added.
