  • The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) has launched a certificate programme in alternative fuels and alternative powertrains for professional engineers and engineering students.

The course include modules on LPG, CNG, ethanol and biodiesel technology, and energy sources for electric vehicles . Practicals and hands-on sessions on alternate fuel engine test, alternate fuel kit test and electric vehicle testing will be a part of this course. “With ever increasing crude oil prices and the alarming environmental crisis, use of alternative fuels is no longer a matter of future. This program is designed to give an in-depth analysis of the current scenario of alternative energy sources in India,” said Dr K C Vora, deputy director and head, ARAI Academy. According to M A Palse, director, ARAI Academy, participants will understand issues on alternative fuel engine and vehicle development, evaluate possible kit components for various alternative fuels, critically compare different alternative fuels and understand the requirements of cylinders.
