  • Aravind S of Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh shuttler Manu Attri entered the men's singles main draw in the second Tata Open All India Badminton Tournament here today after recording tough three-game victories in the fourth qualifying round at the Cricket Club of India here.

Aravind overcame the disappointment of losing the opening game against Amey Joshi of Maharashtra by clinching the next two games convincingly to carve out a 17-21 21-12 21-9 victory in 40 minutes. Attri too had to fight back from a 0-1 situation to put it across Madhya Pradesh rival Abhimanyu Singh and enter the 32-man main draw commencing tomorrow. He won 16-21 21-18 21-18 in 48 minutes.

The other six qualifiers -- Ashish Sharma (Chandigarh), Arun Nandaluri, C M Sashidhar, K Tanishaq (all from AP), Pratik Patel (Gujarat) and Pavan Malik (Chhatisgarh) -- went through with straight-game wins in the fourth and final qualifying round matches.
