Fourth seeded player Arjun Singh Yadav of Uttar Pradesh upset top seed Chinmay Dev Singh (also of UP) by 8-4 in the boys under-14 semi-finals event to reach the finals in style in the AITA talent series tennis tournament,in Lucknow on Thursday.

Boys Under-14: Arjun Singh Yadav (UP; seed-4) bt Chinmay Dev Chauhan (UP; seed-1) 8-4; Shantanu Gupta (Dli) bt Danish Ahmad (Dli) 8-5;

Boys Under-12: Danish Ahmad (Dli; seed-3) bt Sanchit Sikka (UP; seed-1) 8-2; Srijan Singh (UP; seed-8) bt Ashutosh Tiwari (UP) 8-4;

Girls Under-14: Tanmayee Patnaik (Ors; seed-1) bt Muskaan Ranjan (Mah; seed-5) 8-1; Aarushi Bhasin (Dli; seed-2) bt Shubhi Dwivedi (UP; seed-6) 8-7(6);

Girls Under-12: Tanmayee Patnaik (Ors; seed-1) bt Simran S Gawli (Mah; seed-4) 8-3; Aarja Chakroborthy (UP; seed-6) bt Ridhi Raj Sharma (Dli; seed-2) 8-7(5);

Coaches trials begin

The trials to select the coaches on contract basis began at KD Singh Babu Stadium,Lucknow on Thursday. Trials in athletics,archery,gymnastics,netball,table tennis and fencing were organised today. About 80 aspirants turned up for the trials. As per the schedule,trials in football,badminton,swimming,atya-patya,tennis,taekwondo and wushu will take place on May 20.
