  • HRD Minister Arjun Singh favoured a judicial inquiry into the Batla House gun battle in which two suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists were killed by Delhi Police.

"In democracies, it is always better to make things clear," Singh told reporters when asked about his opinion on the shootout.

To a question whether a judicial probe into the incident, as has been demanded by many quarters, would help in making it clear, Singh replied, "why not".

Singh also indicated that even the Prime Minister was thinking over the issue. He said that "as far as I understand, even the Prime Minister is thinking over this issue."

He, however, declined to elaborate about his talks between him and the Prime Minister on the issue saying "this is something privileged".

Two militants of the 'Indian Mujahideen' allegedly involved in the serial blasts in September 13 Delhi serial blasts were killed in the shootout at the Jamia Nagar locality, in which a police inspector was also killed.

Several quarters, including Samajwadi Party and Jamia Milia Islamia University- where some of the suspects were enrolled - had already demanded a judicial probe in the incident.

terror patronsBy: Ganesh | 20-Jan-2009 Reply | Forward These radical pseudosecular anti national bufoons are demanding an enquiry, not just clear the doubt but they expect the findings also to be in their favour.Orlease they will come up with another conspiracy against the enquiry. One recently saw the fate of the Nanavati commission in Gujarat. The whole idea is to demoralise the police and clear the ground for future terrorists. The very idea of ordering an enquiry is an insult to the police and also the soul of a nation.
Why are Indians result-oriented at the cost of degrading quality?By: Nikhil Shah | 20-Jan-2009 Reply | Forward If there is terrorist attack, Indians will get swayed by hype on TV

What a ShameBy: Neeraj | 20-Jan-2009 Reply | Forward In order to appease Muslims, Congress leaders are ready to stoop to lowest level. The whole country is proud of Sharma who gave away his life for the country and this Arjun Singh instead of hailing his bravery and selfness is playing vote politics.Shame on you. There should be more Batla encounters to kill the terrorist or may be politicians like Arjun Singh who are ready to divide this country into pieces.
