New Delhi, September 12: With Pakistan’s western frontier on the boil after a series of attacks on militant targets by US-led forces, Indian Army chief General Deepak Kapoor met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to give him a brief on the security situation in the neighbouring country. Kapoor, who met Singh on Friday morning, is believed to have given an assessment of the situation along Pakistan’s western borders and the impact it is likely have on India, especially on Kashmir.

The meeting, which has been termed as a review of ‘security situation in view of developments in the neighbourhood’, comes days after it came to light that US forces have been given authorisation by President Bush to strike within Pakistani territory.

The Indian Army has been keeping a close eye on developments on Pakistan’s western border. Army analysts believe any developments there have a direct influence on the security situation along the Indo-Pak border.
